Are you scrolling through your sushi feed and wondering how to make your own piece of art? If you’ve already learned the basics during a sushi class, then you’re ready to take it to the next level! The yin yang roll is clean, balanced, and impressive.
I’ve created a five-step tutorial on how to make the “yin yang” maki. Before we begin you’ll need full sheets of nori, cooked sushi rice, sushi grade fish, and vegetables. You’ll also need a cutting board, a sharp knife, and a maki-su.
First: Lay your first layer of rice
Second: Lay your first layer of protein or vegetables
Third: Fold the “Yin”
Fourth: Repeat steps one and two
Fifth: Fold the “Yang,” seal, and cut
Is your roll perfectly balanced? Post your “Yin Yang” roll on Instagram and tag #azchefmallory and #yinyang.
